Quite a good time since I posted last. A few of my events got changed but here is what I have worked on since last post:
Emmis Communications
I spent last week working two different events so I got to see the ins and outs of putting on an event for radio. I participated in set up/tear down for both events and got to spend thirteen hours at the track on Friday interacting with fans (a.k.a. playing cornhole and earning a "hillbilly chic" farmers BURN). I also ran a ticket giveaway and got to spend time with station listeners (which earned me a HUGE bear hug from an ecstatic race-day ticket winner). This week I got to draw winners for online contests (which earned me 4 tickets to Carb Day) and bundle prizes that had just arrived (which earned me a few welts and sore fingers from snapping rubber bands). Loved it, can't wait for next week and my events this weekend.
Conrad Indianapolis:
Last week I spent quite a bit of time researching the company and getting familiar with its ins and outs. I got to interview Todd Leuck, owner and operator and big name hair stylist/designer/awesome guy and really got to know more about why he does what he does. I also compiled a press kit sans photos which are still to come but that did include a backgrounder, fact sheet, opening press release, owner biography, and contact information for the spa director. I spent this week editing our soon to launch website copy which involved lots of proofing, rewriting, rewriting and more rewriting. I also opened our social media sites and am currently working to develop and launch those (facebook, twitter, and a Tumblr blog). I got to experience some of the services as well as I got my hair done and eyebrows waxed after work one day and received a massage (who said these internships were unpaid?). Again, can't wait to continue developing social media next week and working on a catalogue of staff bios, continuing the website, and working on developing a mission statement. Love it.
Pictures to come when I get them :)
Woke up, fell out of bed, dragged a comb across my head... Found my way downstairs and drank a cup, and looking up I noticed I was late... Found my coat and grabbed my hat, made the bus in seconds flat... Found my way upstairs and had a smoke, and somebody spoke and I went into a dream...

Conrad Indianapolis - Day 1
Today, I was introduced to the owners and staff of the Evan Todd Aveda salon where I will be working for the summer. I met with my supervisor, Katie Maynard and discussed the different tasks I will be performing. Along with developing social media strategy I will also be developing and proofing the salon and spa's new website, creating a public relations business launch plan and creating media kits and staff biographies for the company. I will also get to experience the different services that they provide in order to best tell the stories that the salon has to tell. I started research on Aveda and its products and on Todd's former salons. It is exciting to think that I will be working in an environment like Evan Todd and I will do a more formal orientation tomorrow.
